Looking to the Future
The New Minivator Smart Seat was showcased at Naidex 2009 earlier this year to a very warm response from the industry. This new seat will replace the SpaceSaverTM and Luxury seats, offering a single seat solution designed to fit an even wider range of users. The Smart Seat is wider than the current SpaceSaver seat for added comfort, however has a reduced swivel radius. This means it is less obstrusive in the customers home and will fit into smaller narrower staircases. Together with the shorter seat squab and softer matt finish upholstery it is designed to suit the needs of clients of all various shapes and sizes. The NEW swivel mechanism has been re-designed for users with limited strength and dexterity in mind. This will be standard with manual and powered options and in the case of an emergency the powered swivel can be easily manually overridden using this feature. The Smart Seat is supplied as standard with the i-clip, Minivator's innovative dual retractable inceria seat belt. The belt can be easily secured at either one side or centrally using one or both hands, depending on the user flexibility or preference. This then unclips with a soft touch on the contrasting belt clip, this is proved an ideal solution for customers with arthritis or similar conditions of limiting dexterity. The new slim line telescopic chassis offers a maximum of five height settings, allowing you ultimate flexibility when adjusting the seat and consequently suits varying sizes and shapes of clients. The Smart Seat has been designed with ease of fitting and upgrades in mind meaning installation is quick and simple. Should a customers condition unexpectedly deteriorate it is easy to add in powered features such as powered footplate or powered swivel. The new modular system means that all required connections are already present and so ready for upgrade, making it quicker and easier to upgrade the unit onsite. Intelligent Safety - These features work together to move the stairlift to its park position where it causes the least obstruction and then swivel the seat and fold away the footplate. Leaving a clear staircase for easy access and ensuring the clients lift is always charged. When powered features are fitted, Minivator's new Intelligent Safety technology means that the lift will swivel and fold itself if it is left for a period causing an obstruction on the stairs. Should a user have a hinge or SlideTrack, the Intelligent Safety system will also fold the hinge track safely away or move the Slide Track to the top position to eliminate the obstructions. To ensure the safety of all the staircase users the lift moves only very slowly and can be stopped with only finger pressure, the lift also employs a flashing light and sounds an alarm to warn that it is moving. i-charge If the lift is left off charge for more than 3 minutes it routinely flashes red warning lights and beeps loudly, then creeps back to the charge point. In the case of having a Slide Track or hinge track, i-charge will also move the Slide Track slowly up the track to eliminate the obstruction or fold the hinge track safely away. Due to the low currents needed to travel the lift at such a slow creep, if anything comes into contact with the lift it will stop at the touch of a finger, turning the entire lift into a safety sensor. This eradicates possible obstructions made by a hinge track and ensures that batteries do not run down due to the lift being left off charge. i-swivel This feature automatically swivels the seat back to the drive position when it is left in the swiveled position for more than 3 minutes. This then removes the obstruction of the swiveled chair at the top of stairs leaving it clear for access. i-fold i-fold automatically folds the footplate up from the down position if the lift is left for more than three minutes, again reducing the trip hazard and leaving the stairs clear for access. |
